AC Servicing · Published 10 August 2026 · By the Trubair technical team
A proper air conditioner service is far more than rinsing the filters. A complete service cleans the evaporator coil, blower wheel, drain tray and outdoor condenser, checks electrical components and records operating pressures and temperatures. If a technician leaves after fifteen minutes, important steps were almost certainly skipped.
Between professional services, you can keep your system healthy with a few simple habits. Switch off the unit at the isolator, remove the front filters and rinse them in lukewarm water every two to four weeks during heavy use. Let them dry completely before refitting. Keep the area around the outdoor unit clear of plants, boxes and debris so it can breathe.
Avoid spraying water directly into the indoor unit or using harsh chemicals on the coil. These can damage electronics or leave residues that attract more dirt.
Weak airflow, rooms taking longer to cool, musty smells, water spots under the indoor unit and rising electricity bills are all signs a service is overdue. Catching these early usually means a straightforward clean rather than a repair.
For most homes, two services a year — before and after the hottest months — strike the right balance. Units that run daily, or in dusty and busy environments, benefit from quarterly visits. A maintenance plan takes care of the scheduling for you.
